can anyone help me out with some powerheads or at least point me in the right direction for some good ones that arent gonna cost a lot. i have a 125 and am gonna need some here soon. i want to be set up by april. if anybody has any ill be up at ultimate this weekend i could meet you there.

best bang for the buck for a big tank like that would be a pair of maxijet 1200s with the sureflow maximod addons. other than that if you want something pretty and controllable you'd want streams or vortechs. regular powerheads won't cut it.

Hydor koralias are also cheap and put out a good flow, though Matt is probably right about controlability being a consideration. It would also be dependent on what you are planning on stocking tank with.

the koralias are just a little bit sexier with their built-in magmount, but the sureflow kit on a 1200 moves more than twice as much water as the koralia 4. it is a beast, it gives my vortech a run for it's money in terms of mass flow.

When you say MaxiJets, I assume you mean MaxiJet-mods? The regular ones don't put out nearly enough flow for a 125.

yes maxijet mods. it said that they were rated up to 2100 gph

Yeah, that'll be awesome for your 125. The SureGrip mod kits come with two different propellers, one is "high flow" and one is "medium flow". I'd suggest coupling them with the SureGrip magnetic powerhead holders as well. It's not cool when a pump that strong falls in the sand
