Build thread: 50 gallon cube

Your sump water level should be approximately here.

Thanks for that. That is my waterline now. Last night I siphoned out some water.

nice tank.

I am currently setting a similar tank and building a plywood stand.
can I ask a favor? can you take pictures of all around the insides, top (close up of edges/corners), and sides.
I want to build the stand exactly like what you have.
The bottom (where the sump is on), sits on the ground right? (not elevated).
Can you also measure the height of the piece that goes across in front of the tank?
does the door close flush to the top edge? (like is there a small overhang on the top so when the door is closed, it is flush with the top?
does it come with a shelf?

thanks.

Anything else? LOL.

Just kidding. I will try to this weekend.

You're welcome.

Pipes get clogged, things leak, sumps need to be moved in an emergency. Always, always plan for the worse. Unions save a lot of headaches.

Turn your return pump off now and watch how much water backflows into the sump. Make sure it can handle a power outage without flooding

Water level lowered and Union added.

Great build thread, but you might want to ping a mod and have it moved to the build threads section just a bit down the list from this section.

Update:

Yesterday I spent about an hour with my son creating the rock structure. See the pictures below. My vision was that I wanted a big rock structure look with caves and I was able to create several caves with this design. The structure is very stable. I only had to use some JB Weld putty in one spot.

Update:

I have been testing ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate for the last three days. Ammonia zero, Nitrite o.2, Nitrate 2. PH 8.2. I went to Petco to buy a quarantine tank. Bought the Marineland Kit which includes filter, heater, net, LED lights. While I was there, I saw a beautiful piece of live rock covered on Coralline Algae and couldn't help myself and bought it. I figured that it would jump start coralline on my other rocks.

Tonight I installed the lighting. Wow. What a difference. These are amazing. Played around with the programming. Actually, could simulate a thunderstorm.

Here are a couple of pics.

Comments are welcomed!

Looking good. Sorry if I missed it, but what kind of light is that, and what livestock are you planning on adding?

EcoTech Marine Radion Gen 4 XR-15W-Pro (XR15WG3PRO) with Tank Mount System (XR709-15)

Livestock? Don't know yet. I like the Wrasses, Blennies, Clowns. Not too much. I also want to get into corals.
