Build Thread - Elos 160

I enjoy reading through build threads so I figure I will make one for my current project.

Purchased a used Elos 160 complete setup from Jacksonville and am in the process of setting it up to my liking so I can transfer the contents from my current 75gal.

This will be my first build (prior aquariums purchased already setup).

The elos sump had been modified so I pulled out all the glass/plastic baffles and took a shot at designing my own sump.

My first attempt did not go so well (during water flow test the water was fairly loud because i guess i made the drain area too small and it flowed too fast. I cut out baffles again and I think its better now.

Dimensions are 63" long 23 deep 24 high. Seems to be 5/8 glass with double bottom. Was deceivingly heavy. But then again I havent carried many of these.

I will attempt the plumbing this weekend and see what happens. I eventually want to run a frag tank supplied via return pump manifold in the left side of the cabinet (its divided in half) and have it gravity feed back into return pump chamber. Marvin suggested 2 drains for safety and I think thats sound advice. I will place my reactors and
Bio-pellet reactor on far left.

This is where i got the idea

I use an osmolator for ATO and was thinking of an external water reservoir for RO water maybe hidden inside some wicker enclosure on right side of cabinet for looks. That will allow more room in cabinet and easy filling until i figure out somehow to automate it filling itself without constantly turning RO filter on/off every time float valve drops a little.

I currently use an apex with brs dosers for 2part but this setup came with a ghl stand alone 4 pump doser. Still on the fence as to which would be best. This one would only use one outlet on the apex power bar.

No the double bottom is made with one solid piece and then multiple panels all glued together.
Thats the glue Elos uses.
Looks odd doesnt it

Im following the thread. I wish i could se the tapatalk pics though. Im out of town, and they dont show on Ipad. Hopefully they will at home computer.

I didnt think there was a difference. Let me know and I will repost tgrough web browser.

Tap talk sux:)

Gorgeous tank. Couldn't believe this thing took so long to sell. It's a gorgeous setup. Staying tuned......:D

I guess no one wanted to take the drive! The deal was not too bad either, one item included was an ATI powermodule 10x80W I will try to sell to recoup costs.

For lighting I will be using my existing Radion Pro. I purchased 2 additional Radions but not yet sure how many I will need. Its on the borderline between 2 and 3 lights according to the ecotech rep.

I wanted to get that setup. Just could't work out the logistics.

I'm putting in an order next month on a reef savvy tank to satisfy my rimless sweet tooth
