Build thread of the Monterey Marinland 265 84x24x30

I hope that made since.. If not here's how I build them
1st chamber .....drain long pipe and rubble rock so there's no splashing..
2....Then a divider that goes from the bottom of the sump to the top with a 1-1 1/2" gap at your water level needed for your skimmer.
3... Then your skimmer with a double baffle
4... Then your fuge with a triple baffle but your last lower piece shorter than your original height..
5.. Then your return..

Subscribed, I have the same tank downstairs, but money issues right now have kept me from getting anything for it!

What stand and canopy is that, the Monterey?

Also, very interested to see if the 75 gives you clearance issues. I was told the skimmer would not fit (Looking at ASM Model) and am interested to see how yours pans out

There is just over 10 inches of clearance as in the picture above. The skimmer I want is 10.2". I may need to shave the plastic rim down with my dremel.

Thanks Crawfish....What do you think of this one?

The water is going to stay at your highest height it won't be 17" in one chamber and 15" in another.. So that idea won't work..

Are you seeing the 17" tall baffle that will be sealed? The 1st one. Am i missing something. Law of gravity

Please send in a pic of yours

Law of gravity will not apply in this plus you want a smooth even water line I'll post a pic of what I'm talking about give me a min to draw it up.

Now if you must run a filter sock 5" long would work you would need to make a C shaped bracket with the hole in the middle to fit the sock It would lay across the edge and the the first divider I have on laying around I have built if you need it also when coming off the drain from the tank I'd use PVC the a shut off valve then a non glued piece of PVC so it can be taken off easily that goes into the filter sock.. So when changeing out your sock it's easy..

Thankyou for offering help. I may need it.

Im in Jacaranda Lakes, where are you?

Here is pics of current setup that will be up for sale.
Blue Line pump
Reefoctopus skimmer
Wet dry- not sure of name or specs
Refugium- I believe its a sea life systems
Tank- standard 125 6 foot x1 8" footprint

Nice deal on the new tank...

I dont want to hijack your thread but what kind of tiny pumps are you using to feed your GFO and UV? Also how is that UV working for ya? I see so many who warn against them...

If you need some help I'd be glad to give you my number so you can call with any questions.. I live in boca so I'm not to far away

Magnetic hold pico evolutions pumps.

I see what your saying Crawfish. My diagram did not have a hole in the 1st baffle, therefore, water would come into the skimmer area from above

If I made a hole in the middle, I see how the water will be constant level.

Here is my logic of the whole diagram I made second round:
I wanted the first chamber(drain chamber taller) water level level 17", therefore I could use the 4x14" or 7x16" long filter socks to more potential
I wanted the the refugium 12" high area to create small water fall into last baffles group so I can put carbon in an area that has good flow.

Bad idea?

BRS sells a sock mount that $25 adjustable to each size need be

Thanks for all this input. I was actually thinking about using a flexible tubing to dump into the sock. Trying to keep it simple to change

Skimmer

Skimmer

Im finally done researching the skimmer Im going to use.

I decided against the Bubble Magus NAC9 because of impeller issues. It also advertises 25watt consumption, when really its 81 watts.

Im going with.....the Reef Octopus 3000 SRO

Only uses about 40 watts and has sweet bubble blaster pump. Plus it fits in my 10 inch space.

Will need to adjust water level in sump accordingly
