and this is one thing that should be done out side , but due to the size of my tank , take few people to move and since im working alone beside my woman helping me when she can , i had to use the paint inside , so befor i even started i open all my windows i had few of them blower fans in few windows , blowing out , and had 3 other fans in windows , front and back door open , made my house like a wind tunnel lol and this was my first time working with this paint , very strong smell ,,, its a 2 part mix , mixed it togeather and waited 45 min and then started painting , and i have to say its real waterly , i thought it be thick , runs very easy , i painted the inside of the tank and the top was painted top and bottom and side cause i know the top will get wet alot, i painted some stuff im putting in the tank same time with the clear epoxy too , im going with kinda graveyard look , tubestone, part of hand , foot , skull , bones anyway you get it thought , i got 6 coats on tank and everthing , it took while cause put a coat on and then 24 hours to dry , and light sand then paint and so on , 6 times , this took me 2 weeks cause i could only paint 1 coat a day with the house and everthing , and even when done painting , left windows open half day and even at night after windows close and ac back on , i left one windows with the blower fan on all night , cause with out the fan could smell the paint ,,,, good painting time lol

Waiting for the outcome. I'm not as brave as you, I am going to start with some sumps, etc before I do a tank. Thanks for all the pics! Still waiting on the shark pic though :) What are you going to light and skim this tank with. Do you have pumps, etc picked out yet?

i have a pump , its only 1200 gallon an hour , but i will be getting new stuff for this tank , i will have 4,000 gallon an pump , my 2 over flow will max out at 4500 , il work with what i drilled , i found out after , i needed bigger , but it will all work ,,,, but this will be fish only tank , i have a old 55 gallon tank i will be turning into a wet and dry ,, and thanks

i have a 125 gallon fresh water tank and the big guy will be fresh water tank too and then my 125 gallon will be turn into a salt water reef tank , thats the master plan

If you didn't reinforce the corners you are eventually going to have problems...I would seriously consider doing that if you want this tank to last at all....

everthing i did was pretty much on the page and in pics , i followed the garf sight for the build , , so time will tell if i did good job or i suck lol

these my black fresh water sharks , 12 and 13 in long 2 to 3 inch fat ,,, and have some of them baha sharks too , big tanks is mainly for them at start , but once i know the tank will last i will change this tank over to salt , well time and few thousand bucks , lol thats all down the road

Be sure to silicone all the inside corners after yor done with the epoxy then if your tank flexes and your epoxy cracks it won't leak. If it cracks it will happen in the corners. Nice build btw.

thanks , i will be , every seem , and i will paint the stand and do the same there too ,, the bottom , for spills

i do have a qeustion for someone who built a plywood tank ,,, do you drill the holes for the bulk head threw the stand , but the stand , did you drill the hole in stand 2 times bigger so can put the bulk head nut against the tank , or just put it and the nut under the stand ? does it matter long as it tight and water proff , the nut under tank or stand ? thanks

Shouldn't be any different than a acrylic tank. If the bulkhead is long enough to give you enough threads I just put the nut up against the base of the stand. You might want to consider getting the schedule 80 bulkheads as they are much stronger and will not break if your over tighten them. Watching your build with interest as I'm getting ready to build one this Spring. Keep the pictures coming. Jerry.
