Building my Dream: It's a Miracles!

Just read through all 20 pages... What an awesome build! Love the display tank but man all the fuge tanks and plumbed tanks in the basement is awesome, the one with all the seagrass in it has got to be doing awesome as far as nutrient export for the whole system.

Thanks.
One could assume the fuge is doing a good job but i have been very lax in testing. My nitrates and phospates have always been low but i havent tested to see if lower. Corals and fish are healthy, DT is crystal clear, seagrass is growing, pods are reproducing, cleaner shrimp have eggs....so i quess im doing something correct. There are so many things though that i should be doing to improve system however. I just need to stop looking at tank and get things done.

Amazing tank. Read the post last night. I hope your tank keeps thrivjng . And wish my dream could come true like yours. Tagging along

So on oct 11 i posted pic of one of two cleaner shrimp, both of which were loaded with eggs. I got home from work last night at midnight and as usual take quick survey of tank. I noticed one of the shrimp was closer to the glass than usual; further sway from the other shrimp. The eggs didnt look like eggs but more like tiny strings. I get flashlight and iphone and almost immediately the fry are released. I got it on video but here is a quick screenshot.

Awesome tank thread, not sure if t his was mentioned, but I was looking at your equipment and I've noticed your probe submerged which apparently is a no go :( as it can give false readings.

Cheers and keep up the good work.

Edit: was also going to ask if the wife saw the room down below? Finally said yes to switching the china to a fish tank, but there is a ton of equipment downstairs.. I always battle the why is this here and why is that there and why do we have 30 things plugged in for electricity for the tank and so on...

Wow thanks. Did not know that.

The saltwater can cause the top of the probe to shrink while submerged into saltwater and it will eventually give false readings. I was actually just reading some other thread and it took a while to figure out what was causing false readings.

Thanks again. I removed the probe and will get calibration fluids before using again.

My 60 gallon fuge 72x24x8 has continued to do well and believe it is responsible for drop of nitrates down to zero, decrease of film algae on glass, and complete eradication of an increasingly invading bryopsis algae.

I believe it is Caulerpa sertularioides. Sand bed which is sand and 30 pounds of old miracle mud is 1-2 inches deep. Also have a football size of cheato in there

Thanks! I am planning on a similar sized fuge on my next system which almost identical to your dt. I will be setting up a 96x36x24.

Sweet. Although i love my rimless, a disadvantage was the 23" max height and need to keep a cover on anyway. If i had to do it all over again, i would have made it 27" high eurobraced with external overflows. This would have increased volume to 400 and provided more swimming room that the internal boxes take up.

my last tank was 72x36x28 with a eurobrace. The height was great for swimming room but it was a pain to reach the bottom and clean the glass. Even at 6'1" I still found it challenging.

Certainly understandable. Reaching bottom of 23 is easy especially with no eurobracing. I experience eurobrace effect in four corners where i have triangular braces.
