Building overflow lid/cover

I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on building a overflow lid/cover. I have seen black sheets of PVC that are easy to cut and work with, but am afraid they are to thin to dremel or router out a seem to lock the cover into place on the top of the teeth. I cannot find black acrylic that is cheap enough (in comparison to having one made for me). Anyone have any ideas or input? The over flow is a overall rectangle but has the two sides at an inward angle making the back 13" and the front 7". Can't think of the shapes name.

Open for new ideas.

Thanks

Call a local signmaking place. They'll have scrap at a very good price. Or use 1/4" claer acrylic from your local Big Box hardware store and paint it black with krylon fusion

When you say sign scrap, what material are you referring too? I will look into the Krylon fusion... i have need heard of it, but thank you for the advice.

I don't have a D shaped overflow or else that would be perfect!

Sign shops use Acrylic in a variety of colors and thicknesses. Krylon Fusion is spray paint - sold at pretty much every big box hardware store

I will check the sign shop this weekend or next week

I was also looking into a sheet of ABS and heat bending the edges to fit snuggly on the top. Anyone tried doing that?
