building water change system... question

Hi all,

I am building my water change system. Due to to the location of my tank, I will need to use hoses to get the water to and from my tank. I have no problem using a garden hose for water removal.

My question is, can I use a garden hose to bring water from my storage tank to the fish tank?

I prefer to use the garden hose because of its flexability. I have tried to use food safe tubing in the past, and it is a pain in the %$$.

I would greatly appreciate any intput or suggestions! Thanks in advance!

If I understand right, your question is whether using garden hose on the tank water will cause any impurities/etc. to get into the tank?

My chiller, which lives outside in a shed, is plumbed into my reef with garden hose. I've had no problems. You might want to use a hose rated for drinking water ( it will say this on the label ), and you will probably want to cut the metallic connectors off the ends of the hose before you use it, but otherwise, I'd say go ahead.
