i use the standard AGA canopy for my lighting. when i added the halides i had to add and extension to raise the canopy up. i used 1x10s and raised the canopy 9.5".

on the sides it looks like this

i have a strip of plywood running across the back, so i couldnt hang them there either :rolleye1:

my next canopy will be a little better planned. you cant do everything perfect the first time huh?

i like all yourcoral shots. the greens are awesome. i know the frag feeling :p ive got a bout 15 SPS in my tank only 4 over 2" :D and i just got those this weekend.

Here is how mine are mounted:

you might be able to see the pieces I used to hard mount the SEIO.

I mounted this to the top of my lower frame in my canopy. You might be able to remove some wood from your canopy where it meets the tank surface and put this mount there. If that makes sense. :)

that definatly gives me some ideas! thanks, and nice tangs :D

how much do you feed them? i have a Kole and am worried he doesnt get enough veggies in his diet. he doesnt seem to be interested when i put any in there. he sure goes crazy over the live and frozen shrimp i put in there though.

The tangs will eat anything I put in there. I usually feed one cube of formula one per day and then maybe some flakes. I give them a piece of nori a few times per week. I've heard they like romaine lettuce, I've yet to try it though.

hey Ryan, instead of system administration, your occupation should read:
"Letting good RC's waste away in my garage."

 Howdy Mr. Prez, finally got around to seeing your thread. :D Seems that your tank is coming along great! I'll have to stop in here more, even though on my dial-up its kinda slow loading!

 I would make it blink faster but I already have it set as fast as photoshop will let me!

Nah, I like how slow it is. A few days ago I thought I saw it blink so I watched it and thought and it didn't do it again so I thought I was going crazy. Then I see it again!

:D A lot of people miss it blinking! You just see something out of the corner of your eye, and unless your really watching it you can't really see it.

Never noticed it until today :)

Ryan, great pictures of the tangs. I really like the one with just the purple and yellow.

Great tang pics Ryan...I love tangs...they're my favorite fish. I have a hippo, and he's my baby...very spoiled and fat. He's a little piggie too, he'll eat anything I put in the tank.

You can feed a tang romaine lettuce, but nori (or other natural algae) is better for the fish's diet. People feed the lettuce when they can't get better seaweed or their tangs won't eat it. If your tangs are already eating nori and other natural seaweeds, I wouldn't fool with the lettuce.

I'm the same way with my RC's. My truck has been sitting in my garage broken for 2 or 3 months now. Need to get it fixed....

I wasn't sure if it was a torch or a hammer. How can you tell the difference?
both hammers and torches have one tip per tentacle. frogspawns have multiples, and it looks like some of the tentacles have several tips. based on that, i'd call it a frogspawn. torch tips are only round and symetrical. hammer tips are elongated like an oval and sometimes curved like a horseshoe. the anchor hammers have very curved tentacles where branching hammers typically only curve a little bit.

Most of this guy is one per tenticle but there are a few with multiple. Maybe three or so.

The frogspawn I got from you is doing great. There is one area on the bottom where a new head is growing and it is about the size of a nickle now. Hopefully it will be as big as yours was eventually.

once those little baby heads decide they want to grow, it doesn't take long. my colony grew from the size of your peice to basketball size in less than 2 years. then you'll be calling me for help on how to frag the thing! (they're not as easy as regular frogspawns.)
