Buildup of a 90 gallon Reef (picture intensive)

the only place i have algae grow is right on my outputs. i thought algae wasnt supposed to grow in high flow.

guess i need to get some tangs :D

I concur, some my algae seems to grow best on the outputs. It is fun watching my purple tank get blown back when trying to eat off the SIEO (which is on a wavemaker - which makes it even more entertaining.)

So far so good, they (two of them, in my 58) have been on a wave maker since Xmas. First the Red sea one and for the last week the wavemaker that is part of the Reefkeeper controller. Plus in my 75 I have two more that are on the wavemaker that is part of a powerstrip - natural wave timer I think it is called. (those since Xmas too)

All for are the 620 ( I know should have gotten the bigger ones ) I got the reefkeeper mainly for the temp. control feature (and to clean up my power cords) be the wave maker feature it nice too

There is only a slight chatter once in awhile, not all the time. And I am not sure that it is even coming from the SIEOs. I have 4 RIO 600s on a Red Sea wavemaker too.

When I turn my 1500's on they click and clatter everytime. I'm afraid to put them on a timer.
most wavemakers have a slight current leakage that makes the startup easier on the motors. essentially, the motor is constantly getting a little bit of current, so when it gets full juice, it's not a cold start. at least that's the way my old one was.

someone had said that the wavemaker could change the current flow, that's why a maxijet motor would turn either way on a wavemaker. They said the SEIO's should break the shaft when this happened. I don't really know...

I've heard that too, (not that I understand how it happens) and if they happen to break it will give me an excuse to get the bigger ones. But I let you know when/if it does happen.

Ryan, where are you getting most of your coral? It's almost summer time, so that means its time for me to stock up on more corals.

Mine come from mostly local reefers and then hi-tide, advanced aquatic pets and fintastic. I've gotten most of mine from reefcrazed and kip though.

You're killing me! :D

okay, okay...
