My zoom doesn't go near that far with macro mode on...

Was that taken at 5 mp and then cropped?

that shot is actually zoomed. i get some of them by cropping, but the good ones are usually zoomed in. i set the camera in macro, then zoom in on something real far in the back. when its that far away from the lens, it tends to let you zoom in further.

then i place the subject in the display screen, and hope it focuses :D most of the time it doesnt, sometimes it does. the problem is a lot of them take and look good on the display, or even on the TV, but when i get them to work they are slightly out of focus. now i take 3-5 of each shot. usually 1 or 2 look better than the rest.

i like using the "continuous shoot". i hold it down and let the camera snap like 5 shots (or until i feel that i held it perfectly still). this way the camera is not having to compensate for me pressing the button. i notice that my first is almost always distorted, the second is usuallt no good, then most of the rest look much better. its another way to kind of cheat the camera a little bit.

i try reading some of the links in the photo forum, but they seem to be geared towards high end cameras, which i dont have :D.

BTW, all the zoas are cropped shots.

I have a 6 mp fuji and it does a good macro really close but not so good at any distance more than a few inches. I'm getting better but I would still like better shots.

most of the photos were taken with a pentax optio. the recent ones are with this Nikon though, and i have to say they are far superior. it may be my ability though, as the other camera was very good too!

thanks, my wife will appreciate any compliments she gets :D i just cant let her see your post though...unless you change your avatar :D

yeah, me too, but not right now :D

and yours would be a definate push towards wanting them. she is a cutie for sure!

Thanks. :)

One joy of children, watching the same movie over and over and over again. First it was Nemo which wasn't bad. Then garfield which was HORRIBLE then Toy Story 2, which wasn't bad either. Now it is a Barbie movie. blah...

my wife just walked in on me :eek2: well she thinks your daughter is cute too!

i know a little about the movies, and i hope i have a little boy, so at least it can be GI Joe and comic book movies :D

i was helping a friend rearrange his tank a little. i went over three different nights, and his daughters (about 8 & 11) watched the same 2 hillary duff movies all three nights. i think one night they may have watched one twice!!

gotta run, that was the dinner summons :D

Macro mode is definetly the best way to go. My only other recommendation is to invest in a tripod. Wal-mart has some decent models under $40.

I just realized how close you are. We go to MB all the time. Any good LFS's there?

they fluctuate a lot. there is one pretty consistent one, but they rent consistently great or anything :rolleye1:

if you come in on a thursday, its worth the trip in there. he gets 5-10 corals a week, and usually the good ones are sold by friday afternoon (they come in thursday afternoon). he almost always has bubble corals, and a few SPS to choose from. he only really carries the real common fish though. i did get a filamentous flasher wrasse from him last week. his fish arent the greatest (at the mercy of his vendor) but he stands behind them for the locals. i dont know what he could do for you if you lost a fish, but for the people he can replace them for he does.

there is a store in North Myrtle that keeps over 200 fish at a time. he usually has a lot of cool FO fish, but occasionally has cool tangs and wrasses. his corals are getting better, but hes only open 11 hours a week, and hes a d***. some of the other club members think his store is the greatest, but i just cant get along with him anymore. we had a little run-in, and because i stood up to him, he gives me a hard time every time i see him.

next time you come down LMK. i may get you to bring a frag pack from reefcrazed :D

LOL, reefcrazed is about to sell a lot of his frags. He is reaquascaping this week and plans to have a lot of stuff.

Fun zoos where? reefcrazed's house? He doesn't have many. He does have some bright flour orange ones that I want but he's not ready to frag them. His tank was TOTM in July of last year I think, do get an idea of what it looks like. Typical TOTM, mostly SPS

I'm trying to convince the wife to let me set back up the 29 gallon tank. She said that she didn't want the eclipse filter on it so I've been building a new canopy. After about 4 hours total of work I am almost done with it. I've only spent $30 making it so far. Very simple, the top opens for feeding and care and the back is open for any HOB item I choose.

I'll post pictures later. If she doesn't want it set up then I guess I'll sell it...

Surely I can make $30 out of the canopy...
