I think it's absolutely amazing that fish know exactly what's going on and at what times of the day, I have an automatic feeder that goes on 3 times a day and the fish know when it's getting ready to feed they will all gather up and circle that area a few minutes before. I also feed my 2 year old scooter blenny with a turkey baster after the MH's go off and just my actinic's are on he/she will go to the same spot in the tank and wait for me to come and feed, but my favorite part is watching my six line wrasse every night 1 to 2 minutes before lights out he will shoot under the sand and bury himself till morning, pretty cool site to see I guess I should take video and post it up.

So true. Our Midas blenny and chromis are always spot on with feeding times - swimming near where we release food before we do so

^^^^^ 3 inches is plenty deep enough. I can't speak for a mystery wrasse as I've never owned one. There was a very good article on wrasse a while back that spoke about this behavior and also how they can wrap their bodies inside of mucus cocoon. I don't remember the name of the article hopefully someone else can chime in with it.

In general, no members of the Pseudocheilinus genus buries in the sandbed at night. If yours does, it is an exception and not the rule. So, no, a Mystery Wrasse should not bury itself at night.
