Bulk Reef Supply, group buy

Hi guys,

I had no idea there was even a club in this area--I just stumbled across the forum. If it's ok, I'll get in for 1 gallon (3 lbs) of the larger size GAC for 12.99 and 1 lb of the GFO pellets for $18.99. Please let me know if the group buy works out.

Thanks alot,
Grant

I'd like in, what type of discount do we get? Just ordered a ton of bulk DI resin from them...wish I would have waited!

Prob just saving on shipping at this point - when I know how much we want to order I'll try for a discount or free shipping.

Did you check with Del Valley Reef Club at all? Maybe NCPARS as well? Hard to tell if all the effort will be worth it, but they do say "drastically discounted"... whatever drastically means.

They'll do the lowest price on all the items if you get 10 people. I'll ask around and see, but I need to order soon - I'm almost out of Kalk.

Bill (or anyone), any idea why the Total Two Part Package contains both Mag Chloride and Mag Sulfate? Do you need to use both? For a minute I was going to contenplate opting for the all out Two Part kit, but looks like their prices jumped to $70 (I thought it used be more like $50?)

So I'm sticking with a gallon of kalk for now.

Mag sulfate is cheaper, but will slowly increase sulfate levels in the tank - I wouldn't but it from there, it's just epsom salts. Read Randy's articles on Mag supplementation for more.

So I'm assuming you've found nowhere in the area selling Mag Flake by the Dead Sea Works folks?

It's hard to stay up on what's safe and what's not. The impression I'm under at this point is that Ca Chloride and Mag Chloride require purchase from a bulk reef supplier, while Mag Sulfate (epsom) and Alk (baked Arm & Hammer) are fine from Giant.

Is CA Chloride such as Prestone Driveway heat no longer safe to use? I've been using my bag for 2+ years...

you can order if you like, but we aren't close to 10.. Just splitting shipping at this point. :)
