I have just purchased a 30 gallon glass aquarium - 24 x 18 x 18. It's still at the lfs as I want it drilled. I am considering putting a 30 g sump on this.
I have a couple of pumps lying around from past tanks including a Oceanrunner 3500 and was considering using this as the return pump with a manifold going back over the top. For this I figure a 1.5" bulkhead, which I intend to run through one of the short sides.
I intend on keeping lps (Elegance corals here in Australia are great) with a rubble bottom and 3 or 4 small fish (1 or 2 blue assessors, bicolour blenny, maybe a Bangaii or 6 line wrasse).
Is this pump going to be too much for the aquarium or the sump? Do I need this much flow for an lps dominated aquarium?
