It sounds like marine ich. I would treat in quarantine with hyposalinity or copper (specifically Seachem's Cupramine).

ok well i have the kent marine rxp medicine that is safe for most fish and inverts. my girl bought it last week/ she bought a clown that had ich.
i had to apply that to the whole tank because i don't want the other fish to get it.
could i just keep medicating the tank and periodically taking the burrfish out for a freshwater dip ?
if so...should i just do it for 5 minutes twice a day until it recovers?
i have a bad feeling freshwater dips stress out fish to the point it could make things worse.

I have never seen any proof that the Kent products works for ich. And while I like freshwater dips, tossing a dipped fish back into an infected tank makes the treatment useless.
damn. alrite. this really sucks i have wanted this fish for years now and i finally came across it. i used to like porquipine puffers but then read they grow two feet. the burrfish usually hit 10inches and occassionally 12 inches and they look much cooler. i thought it was going to be a great "wet pet "but eveything is screwed up.
doesn't make sense. it looked fine when i bought it and all of my other fish are still fine...

Ich is exceptionally common on pufferfish.
alrite so i se the qt tank up and its been in there for two days. i am still using that kent marine rxp and i am also using some copper med that is dark blue (forget the name) that says treat once a day for 5 days max.
it's the second day the tank is really cloudy i am going to do a change tomorrow. also i worry about the fish stressing itself out to the point it poisons itself.
the tank is just a 10g with an airstone and a heater and a shell for a "toy" btw.
should i just leave it in qt for the 5 days i am treating it?
also, the slime seems to have dissapeared on it but there is still specs or blotches on the fins. it also still dosen't eat but that could be from being in the qt tank as well.

I would discontinue the Kent product. There is no need for it if you are going to use copper.

ok well i do not have time to go to a petstore right now i have ot leave for work. i think what i am going to do is put it back in the main aquarium then get the copper on sunday and put 100% new water in the 10g quarantine tank then treat it there for 5 days
