this is progbably an elementary point for you all, but my ocellaris are kind of surpising me.

I have had the momma for nearly 5 yrs, had the pair mated for ovr two and they just produced eggs for me for the first time about a month ago. I was pleased of course.

Then last week, she did it again. I thought that was kind of quick not really familiar with the process.....she did it AGAIN last night no more than a week after the last one

The best part about it kind of is she drops them front and center of the tank on my starboard right in front of her condy. The bright orange cluster is almost becoming a centerpiece. :)

is this going to be a weekly thing now? Or is this like newlywed syndrome??...or did my kid put some of my viagra in the tank?

as far as eating them or natural hatch........I think she is trying to let them hatch. Its hard to say as she is ticked off protecting them from a couple of wrasses. I dont understand why she doesnt lay them closer to the nem. they arent far, but not all of them are protected. I havent seen them eat them until they start to turn dark.

At this rate, I should get them out and raise them, and save some cash on trigger food...........

see how well that joke flies in the clownfish forum

ok........I posted this thread in reference to them spawing on 5-26.

they did it again on the 31st(or so.......didnt pay attention to the exact date but considering she did it again this morning it would seem logical that was about the date.

This spawn this morning she laid them on top of blackened ones that hadnt even all been all eaten yet.

Is that uncommon?? It sounds kinda quickly to me considering the replies I have had in this thread.

Im not worried of course or anything, just surprised I guess. When I thought about it I second guessed whether I remembered it quite right and maybe she didnt spawn once in between......but my wife confirmed it for me. I wouldnt bet my life or anything that we both dfidnt hallucinate it, but Im pretty dang sure that these things are spawning every 5 days at the moment

that's abnormal definitely.

is it a one time thing or it's been happening over and over?

what are you feeding them ? And have you add any 'different' additives to the tank (like those idodine, etc. etc.)?

the first time they ever spawned was 5-6 weeks ago.

they get Rods multiple times daily most of the time if Im home and some pellets here and there if I happen to be away for a day or two. I do dose a small amount of iodine in the tank weekly. Like 4 drops lugols in a 120 gallon system. Nothing else.

oh interesting, feed them well, if they spawn that often, they might have mal-nutrition soon due to the constant egg producing.

Interesting to know if this is only a "rookie" spawning effect or if it is an environment induced frequent spawning.

either way, first time hearing about it.
