bye bye

how much of a water change, and if any one is in my area and has r/o water that would be really helpful, i dont have any, (only 2 gallons if that from when i got it yesterday)
and my parents arent home so i cant drive to get some.
but how much of a water change? 10 gallons?

The corals in the pictures don't look dead just stressed.
Do at least a 10 gal water change and if it were me I would run some carbon.
Keep an eye on the levels and if needed do a second 10 gal change in a day or so.

i did a 7 gallon water change, and in 2 more days i will do a 10 gallon, i kept the hammer in cause it looked better then the frog spawn, which i took out and put into a 1 gallon thing for the night with some oxygen

ammonia, is back to 0, nitrites, 0, nitrates, 5 (they have always been there),
but i woke up this morning, and i found my green carpet enjoying 2 cleaner shrimp, : /.
i am just going to sell him to someone, i cant afford a $40 meal. lol.

Well, at least the ammonia issue is under control (for now). Keep testing and be ready to do another water change.

Sorry to hear about the cleaner shrimp. They are pretty sensitive to water quality issues, so the anemone might ot be the killer in your tank.

If you are already inclined to return or sell your anemone, please do. See if you can get store credit somewhere for it and exchange it for some new corals.

Any leather corals, zoanthids, non-ricordea-Yuma mushrooms, montiporas, or (most) LPS are good coral choices. Make sure you research whatever you are about to spend your money one. (You do have a good book already, right?)

yeah, well the other cleaner shrimp (i had 3) and the peppermint shrimp are completely fine, and the anemone has eaten one before unfortunatly, he likes to move where the shrimp hang out.

yeah i will see about the credit, i just want like 3 cleaner shrimp for him or something.

Here's where a cracken (good) skimmer comes in real handy. Not only does it add tons of oxygen for helping inhabitants when the water gets hot.... but in the instance of a sudden die off, the waste gets removed quickly before it all has a chance to break down into harmful pollution.

thats interesting. my cleaner stays clear of my carpet and have never had a problem with it. Remember they like to crawl on top of things so try feeding away from the carpet it may help to "relocate" the cleaner.

yeah, well i am just going to try to sell the carpet to someone for like 3 cleaner shrimp or something, maybe some peppermint shrimp.

just did another 5 gallon water change, hopefully everything will open up tommorrow,
(rip. hammer coral (half) 2 frogspawn, kenya tree, ricordia, cleaner shrimps :( )
