So, I have this new mantis i got last week, i set him up in a 10 gallon i had for the time being with a fine substrate and a PVC burrow like you suggested and he's eating and social and everything. His personality is a little different from my other mantis and others i've heard about. I guess i'm just making sure there is no cause for alarm because he's acting different than usual. He's almost always out and about, but usually very still, for long periods of time, is this normal? He hasn't tried making a burrow or anything, and from time to time, he'll cruise around the tank and stare at my cat. Is this a sign of him being uncomfortable in his habitat? Or maybe this is the way this species usually acts.

Thanks in advance. JT

they usually act weird for a bit when they are first introduced in a tank. just let it be for a while and hope it does okay. pics? ive always been a big fan of C. dubia.

C. dubia is nocturnal. During the day, they would be very still in their burrow. Without some sort of cohesive substrate, it can't dig.
