Ca Levels over 700....!!!!!

A high CA is not the killer of coral, and people telling you to just keep testing it are being very closed minded. The answer is not test it until you get a reading you like, the CA read can be that high, it happens, I know first hand. using two differnt brands of test kits and getting the same result.

Water changes are the only way to lower it, that or just wait for your coral to use it up, but keep adding the ALK to keep that level.

Go get a box of Tropic Marin Sea Salt, they do 32 Gallons of water so it would be a good test vs what salt you currently have.

Yeah i tested again today, here are all my results. all salifert

Temp. 80.6-81.7
SG. 1.026 using refractometer
Cal. 700+
PH 8.1
P03 0
PO4 0
dKH 8.6

after using different tests confirming the cal. i would have to agree it is prob. the salt.

thanks, sofar it has not been a prob. for my only coral in the tank, a Montipora Digitata. so i believe everything will be ok, it was just shoking to see a number that high.

Please add or ask anything,
thanks
Rob

Is high Calcium bad? I keep mine at 500. If your mag, alk and ph are all good is it bad to have high calcium?

Nope.

the experience i have had with high calcium is just having to clean the inside of your pumps to remove calcium buildup around the inside of the impeller housing. My solution, buy more coral, don't buy salt with less calcium.
