CA Measuring High

Was checking my parameters today and my calcium seems very high at 600.

Measured it twice using the Hanna Calcium checker. Both times it came out the exact same at 600.

Is that too high? Should I do a large water change to bring it down?

Here were the parameters I measured:
MG 1480
CA 600
Alk 11

Hanna Checkers are far from my first choice in calcium testers, they are difficult to get accurate readings with. I seriously doubt your calcium is at 600, it would be rare for your calcium to be that high without a lot of calcium precipitation. Before you take any action I would double check your test results with either a Salifert or Red Sea Pro test kit. If your calcium is really that high I would use a salt mix with a lower calcium level. Your Mg and alkalinity are also higher than what i like to keep my tank at. I suspect you are using a reef type salt, a standard mix would be more appropriate.

Yes I am currently using Red Sea Coral Pro Salt and I am almost done with the bucket so I will look for a different salt mix. I will try and pickup another test on the way home tomorrow to compare against the Hanna.

Take your test kit and a sample of your water to an LFS. I's suggest you both check your sample and a sample of the store's water so you get a couple of comparisons.

How high is your salinity? And with what instrument exactly do you measure

Salinity increases by 2 part dosing.
Also if you use to many salt mixture for your water changes

Higher salinity = higher Ca Alk Mg also

Salinity is 1.026 measured with a refractometer. I made sure that it was calibrated before taking measurements today.

never use the left SG scale on refractometers. Use the psu reading on the right side instead. Should be 34,5 .. 35 psu

Important:
With what did you calibrate the Refrak?
For which medium is your refrak intended ? Seawater? NaCl ? Something else ?
