Ca reactor:
Continuously adds Ca and Alk to tank from the tank water
Typically lowers PH a little
Can add LOTS of Ca and Alk to the tank
Does not potentially effect salinity
equipment is pricey but cheap in the long run
Kalk:
Used for top off due to evaporation
Must be mixed with H2o
has a maximum potency to a degree but can be super potent if you add vinegar to the water and more kalk (beyond 2 tblspn's)
Raises PH
Can effect Salinity
helps add Ca and Alk to the tank to a degree
cheap but somewhat limited in ca/alk supplementation
some say kalk also helps bind phosphate in your tank
Typically if you have a heavily stocked SPS tank Kalk alone wont keep up with Ca/Alk demand by itself
Ca reactors usually can keep up with most heavily stocked SPS tanks by themselves
I myself run both. I think kalk helps keep my PH up and the phosphate binding potential has got to be a good thing.
