Cable lengths on apex- basement sump

I'm about to start up a basement sump and am needing to know how the cable lengths will work- I wanted the apex downstairs-
1. Apex to tunze max cable length?
2. Apex to lights over the tank?
3. A waterbug wired to a io box in the basement with the waterbug under the stand upstairs- possible?

There any problems running a cord from the apex to the tank upstairs to make my lights reach?

Tank is approximate 15' away from apex locAtion

Thanks matt

Any specific reason you want the Apex downstairs?

you could put it in your stand and a PM1 downstairs and you'd likely be better off.

The only thing upstairs would be my light which might have there own controller, waterbug and the tunze- --calc reactor ,top offs ,heaters ,fuge light, return pump, will be downstairs -so I'll have alot more crap down there that was my thought

Ah-
You could do the reverse- Put 1 EB8 upstairs, 1 PM1 upstairs (To hookup the breakout box for the waterbug and the rest downstairs

Edit- Are you controlling the speed on the Tunze?

Yes will be controlling speed-- thE cable I'm really not sure about max length - I'm thinking I'll buy a 7096 and control tunze separate before buying all extra eb8 and another pm1-- not sure yet

I don't have a Tunze, but from looking at the Apex New User's Guide, you should be able to DIY a cable of whatever length you need. You'll have to test it to find out if it works correctly at the length you need, though.

Apex to tunze max cable length?

About 10' (per Tunze); any more and the cable loss can result in irratic pump behavior.

Apex to lights over the tank?

Not sure I get this one; if these lights connect to an EB8/EB4 then you can be 200' (or more) between the Apex base and EB8/EB4.

A waterbug wired to a io box in the basement with the waterbug under the stand upstairs- possible?

Yes; the waterbug is just a contact closure and they can be quite far and work very well but if you plan to control your Tunze (and keep the Apex downstairs) then you would need a VDM and that includes inputs for contact closures so you could connect the WaterBug to the VDM.

If I need to buy a vdm to mount upstairs then should I buy the apex lite since I won't b able to use the tunze ports on a apex pro/regular

And if I need the extra ph/orp port buy that then

What water bug do you recommend with the apex?

Sure, an Apex Lite would work in your case.

For a remote/additional PH/ORP add a PM1 (don't forget the probe; it doesn't come with one).

I purchased the WB-200 and added extra sensors because I have a number or areas I wanted protected; mainly you want one with relay contacts so you can connect the Apex. Don't forget a power supply; you will need it to power the WaterBug unit.

Did that...

Hi there --

My sump and mechanicals are all downstairs from the display. I have the head unit, two EB's and a PM downstairs with VDM (Tunze's) and another EB upstairs (display lights, internal circ) with the 15' cord from Neptune. The long connection is between the PM and EB. All works well. I have displays upstairs and downstairs, although I use the iPhone app more. The displays are nice for the casual glance -- and wife prefers them for feeding cycle's...she finds the app to be too much. :)

As suggested, it seems it could go the other way, too. It made more sense with the probes in the fuge to have the head unit downstairs. Ethernet was better run through that area, too.

Yep, small fortune...but it's nice being able to check in on everything from anywhere. :)
