I am going to coordinate a group purchase of CaCl2 (Dow Flake) and MgCl2 (Note that this is not the MagFlake brand). I will place an order for the product on June 7th so that I can have it at the meeting on June 15th.
Price:
$5 for a 5 lb bag of either MgCl2 or CaCl2.
We must order in 50lb increments for the CaCl2 and 80lb increment for the MgCl2. So if we have a total request of 65lbs of CaCl2, only those who ordered the first 50lb will get the CaCl2. The rest will have to wait until we get a second 50lb bag or possible not get the CaCl2 that they wanted.
Just as a quick reference - when I mix fresh salt water (reef crystal) - I usually put in 3 tsp of CaCl2 and 48 tsp of MgCl2. I do have a calcium reactor on my system - so I don't' dose CaCl2. Please order the amount you need appropriately.
Full Disclosure: The MgCl2 is costing about $0.71/lb and the CaCl2 is about $0.83/lb. I am rounding it up to $1/lb due to the cost of gas, ziplocs, PayPal per transaction fee, and sweats shop child labor. I am actually letting Sierra do all the weighing and bagging, and any money she makes is going to her summer camp. Also if you are paying by credit card via Paypal - please add the 2.9% PayPal credit card fee on top.
Please respond to this thread how much of each you would like. We we reach the correct amount to purchase a full bag, I will PM you with information on how to paypal me.
Please note that I did not include MgSO4 (Epsom salt) because the cost per pound of bulk Epsom salt was the same as the cost per pound at Longs.

If we have an even amount (50, 100, or 150 lbs for CaCl2 and 80, 160, 240 for MgCl2) and the orders slow or stop before the close date, I may push this closing date up and close the GB early.
IF I decide to close the GB early as described above, I will email all current order holders, AND post on this thread, 2 days in advance of an early close date.
Once you pay me, you will not get a refund unless 1) the group buy does not happen or 2) the price changes. Both of these are unlikely.
If you do not arrange pick up, before (July 7th 2007) 1 month after the purchase, I will consider your order abandoned and will either resell it or give it away to other club members, and YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE A REFUND OF ANY KIND FOR ANY REASON.
I don't want to sit on this stuff forever waiting for you. You want it, you paid for it; so make sure you don't go AWOL on me.
Unfortunately, none of the LFS are really local to me, so you will either have to pick it up at my house or at the MARS meeting. I will NOT ship any of the products out.

Please put in the comment field your full name, phone number (just incase I need to contact you), your RC handle, and what you ordered. Do not PayPal me until I have contacted you. I want to lock in your order before asking you to PayPal me.
I don't want the rules to scare anybody off, I just want this to go smooth and painless for all of us. I think these rules will help this move very well.
