CADlights 39g Pro build thread

I have the Euro-Reef NS 2.0-3P. I just got new meshwheels and the new ones make ALL THE DIFFERENCE!!! The skimmate looks like freaking black coffee now. Way better with the new meshwheels for sure!

Is anyone using the Tunzi osmolator? I seem to be having a problem with microbubbles tripping the sensor. I've only had the systme set up for a few days, so maybe the microbubbles with settle down?

I have the osmolator. I got it from a guy who said that bubbles in particular caused it to have problems.

I have zero bubbles in the center section of my sump, so it hasn't given me any problems yet. I love my osmolator! It makes my skimmer work so much better since the water level is maintained with such tight tolerances.

Any thoughts on how to eliminate the microbubbles? Maybe they will just go away as the system settles in? I'm running the stock skimmer with LR and a filter pad in the left front, mud and cheato in the center and the pump and osmolator sensors in the right chamber. When I start with a low water level and turn on the osmolator, it will pump until the sensor hits the water and shut off. It will then sit for some time (10 - 40 min.) when it will all of a sudden turn one an continue pumping until the reservoir is empty. I may try to exchange the osmolator, but I'm guessing it's the bubbles.

Make sure that the lens on the sensor isnt scratched or anything... as far as microbubbles, they are coming from somewhere. Find the source and target that.

I run my input through a micron bag, over LR in the left chamber with the Euro-Reef skimmer, the center section has chaeto and the osmolator sensor, and the right section has my return pump and my media reactor pump.

It that micro bag anything special? Did you make it or buy it? TIA I'm off to get a replacement osmolator and try that.

It came with the tank when I bought it... my CADlights is second hand. The guy that I got it from had the bag on there. It isn't a filter sock, it is a micron bag, just like you would throw carbon into and toss in the sump. It doesn't catch much stuff, but it does catch some and quiets down the water flow a lot... may even have an effect on bubbles! Lol... good luck and keep us posted, hopefully you get your problem resolved.

I also just got a new return pump - a Quiet One 3000 - and a Vortech MP20! Can't wait to get everything hooked up and get a new scape this weekend!!!

That looks great, pilot! When I break mine down to move later this year, I am looking forward to being able to set up the plumbing better. I have a chiller on it, so it makes things a little more difficult.

You setup is very nice and clean! Any thoughts on a vortech? Upgrade skimmer? Controller?

Also, I love the scape... it is freaking sweet!

I have a AC Jr controller running and will consider the Euro skimmer if I'm not happy with the stock one.

I replaced the osmolator, but still have problems. I'm quite sure it's the micro-bubbles. I'm hoping that they will settle down after running for a week or so. I think most of them are coming from the skimmer. I through a bag over the return line, but that didn't seem to change much. Would the Euro-reef skimmer reduce the bubbles?

I think I have about 30 lbs. of live rock in the aquascape. Lots of fiberglass rods, super glue and plumbers epoxy.

I didnt have the osmolator when I had the stock skimmer, so I cant say for sure, but I havent had any problems with it since I installed it.

Incase anyone has the cherry wood stand, I emailed ken and he said the center piece is not needed. Did anyone else get this info because I don't want to make a huge mistake and cause a flood.

The light fixture with internal ballast (like at the very beginning of this thread) came with 2 LED moonlights built in.

I haven't seen the (new?) fixture with external ballast, so I don't know about moonlights in that.

oh wow I'm dumb, anyway how do you turn them on I can't seem to find a switch for them?

There's a plug for a transformer block.

IIRC, there is a switch on the block but none on the fixture. I just leave mine on - another 2W to grow my algae!
