It's finally here! I just got the new Cadlights 50 Gallon Artisan Series Aquarium and I will be doing my first build thread. The purpose of this thread is to show off my new tank and to help other people who are thinking about getting this tank. Also I will try to make this as detailed as possible including suggestions for next generation models.
So first off a little about the tank:
-Dimensions: 24"x24"x20"
-Rimless
-Low Iron High Clarity Glass "Starphire"
-Black seams
-Built in overflow on the back with two return holes drilled in the overflow and one hole drilled for drain and one hole drilled for return on the bottom of the overflow
-Stand is made out of a real wood/particle board composite (extremely nice looking with the most sump space to tank dimension ratio possible)
-Huge sump with 4 chambers (dimensions in picture)
-Sleek aluminum light stand
Tank Equipment:
Protein Skimmer: SWC Xtreme 160 Cone
Lighting: 150 watt Lumenbright Mini pendant with Coralvue ballast and Radium bulb
Powerheads: Tunze 6025 and I will be adding a Tunze 6055 or Vortech MP20
Return Pump: QuietOne 3000
Before buying this tank I asked the sales rep a TON of questions because I was suspicious as to how a tank of this caliber could be priced so low. So I know probably there are at least a few of you potential buyers out there who have lots of questions too. So I'll try to take some burden off of Clay and answer them with this thread.
If you have any questions about the tank please feel free to ask. Sharing info is the best!
Now for some pics:
