Calcium Reactor and Denitrator

Dear MD.

Thanks as always for the top service *cheers Joseph(. I am setting up my Korallin denitrator and in a bid to keep down tubes etc, wondered if I could run it in series after or before my Korallin Calcium Reactor.

Grateful for advice is this possible or should they both run as independant reactors. If it is OK, which should feed which.

Thanks again

Hi Matt,

Thanks for your compliments and I am glad that we are able to help.

As the two 'filters' require different flow rates (40-50 drips per minute for the calcium reactor and about 120 drips per minute for the BioDenitrator), I would recommend running them separately.

If the drip rate is too fast for the calcium reactor is too fast, there may not be enough recirculation and not enough calcium would dissolve. If the drip rate for the BioDenitrator is too slow, you may end up with H2S building up inside the BioDenitrator.

Perhaps using zip ties to tidy up the tubing would be your best solution.

Please let us know if there is anything else we can help you with.

Sincerely,
Joseph
