what ways can you dose calcium with out a calcium reactor? I am not a huge fan of spending $400+ on a calcium reactor. It is kind of a PITA to use a liquid supplement for a 150 gallon system. are there other options?
Yea you have to dose soemthing. Your choice of liquid or powder calcium, or KALK. What part is a PITA? If its having to physically adding to the tank. Then a doseing pump and KALK is probley the best way. Still going to cost money tho. I think powder solution of calcium might be the cheapest. The seachem brand coes to mind.
There will be an improved recipe for the two part in the February Reefkeeping magazine which incorporates de-icing magnesium chloride, and there are improved directions as well.
i have been dosing for a year and i have not had any problem and it workd just fine. the reactors are for convenience but if you are careful you can do just as good as a reactor.
