Hi Paul- I did change the level of effluent but no changes. I'm going to test again in the AM and will post the results.

Hey Hawkster what do you use to buffer your make up water? My alk is way high now- I turned off the effluent and I'm going to check it again in the am. I'm doing a water change tomorrow - I think I might do about 20% and see if that helps.

I buff ALK with baking soda and the CA with Seachem Reef Complete

Thanks for the information and help Hawkster. After my water change this morning and letting things settle down, here are my parameters:

Cal=380
Alk=4.0
pH=8.25
Much better parameters!

Do any of you DIY Calcium Reactor Guru's have an old reactor that you are looking to get rid of? I don't need a regulator or tank.

Hello everyone - sorry I haven't responded - busy with about 5 projects at the same time - had a few floods. I messed up my parameters because of a flood - had to make up some water fast without dosing first. Here they are now:

Cal=340
Alk=6.0
pH=8.25

Everything got out of wack and right now I have the reactor off line. I'm getting everything back together and will dose and change the water tomorrow.

I have C-Balance that I can balance my change water with. Does this sound good?

Alk=5.0meq/L
Ph=8.2
bubble count is at 80bpm
effluent rate is 200ml/min
Ph high set point is 6.9(measured in reactor)
Ph low set point is 6.7(measured in reactor)

well it has only taken me like 3 weeks to get it to start to settle in.i still am tweaking it every few days but only very small adjustments.

i love the fact that i havent had to dose the tank in like 3 weeks,gotta love it .now i just use enough to dose 10g worth of water a week for water changes.
