so bsically how do i get my mg down and my ca up i have never dosed before so this will be my first time any advice would be great!

There are instructions in the box and on the bottle. Should give you dosing instructions.

First you need to decide what method you will use to handle the ABC elements. Besides water changes, the practical choices for most is either adding Kalk (provides alkalinity & calcium together in a single powder & mixed in RODI water) or doing 2 part dosing (2 different products that can control alkalinity & cLxium levels separately).

You'll start dosing by hand, then you may want to automate it.

First, get comfortable using your test kit and record your results. You'll spot trends on how much you use over time; this is critical to know. The magnesium level will drop with usage, no worries there. It sounds daunting at first but you'll find it to be rather straight forward once your research.

Describe your tank & you'll get better feedback. How old, how big, RODI, what kind of corals, etc.

its about 3 months old 55g with a few LPS frags (hammer brancher gsp galaxia) i use rodi water that i make myself it is hooked up to a ppm reader as well so its good water

What salt do you use? How often do you do water changes and how much? You usually shouldn't need to dose Calcium with just a few lps frags in a 55g tank. Maybe switch to a reef salt with higher Ca levels and save yourself the headaches of dosing?

Actually in a closed water system with live rock you have tons of other organisms extracting calcium out of the water, coralline algae, tube worms, soft corals (contrary to belief) use up CaCo3.
