Cali Tort

I had mine for a year before it started branching and now it's got 5 branches. It has to fully encrust and get a solid footing before it starts branching out. Patience. What I usually do is buy another nice piece to look at so I can stop staring at the one that's not growing and before you know it. It grows. The old saying a watch pot never boils lol. Just walk away

I cannot believe this simple fact has escaped me all this time. It makes sense, right? You want a solid, supportive base if you're going to expand horizontally and outwards. Need something to grab onto. D'oh!

Trueblack, you got skills, but not with the camera :). I am having trouble too, but I did get the white balance to be at least close to what I see. Have you tried setting the white balance? I have a canon xsi, and all you do for that one is take a pic (of in the tank) of something mostly white/grey ( substrate), and then go to the custom white balance option in the menu with that photo selected in the viewer. It asks if you want to use that photo for custom white balance, and you say yes, and then it looks a lot better. If using an iPhone, point the lense at the tank before you open the camera app, and it will automatically set the white balance. Hope that helps! Would love to see what your tank/corals really look like :).

Yes I have an iphone will try that. The true Oregon tort looks very close to what I posted except it's more blue.
