I bought a used pinpoint pH controller, try to calibrate it. (previous owner cant find the instruction) Any one konw how to calibrate pinpoint pH Controller? I got my calibrate sloution 7 and 10. and I am having a hard time to set them right. The controller is about one yr. old and the probe is about 3 months old.
Thanks
David

Thank you very much. I am able to get the 7 down. When I adjust the slope for the 10, highest i got is 9.72. I try two different times (calib. soultion package) What did I do wrong? or I bought a junk?

Keep switching back and forth from solution to solution, readjusting each time, until you get it calibrated. The longer this takes, the worse condition the probe is in.

make sure to dip in di water between packets

Also-once you adjust to 7 and turn the slope up as far as it will go- rinse and recheck the 7-it will need to be readjusted - then back to ten and so on-it usually takes 4-5 cycles to get it dead on.

Also-be sure to keep the probe wet at all times!!!

Thank you everyone for your help. The trick is like JenDub said "adjust to 7 and turn the slope up as far as it will go"
I did that, now is all good.
Thank you for your help. Hope everyone have a happy and safe 4th.

Hello, It is me again, here is what bother me,I just calib my pinpoint pH controller. 7 and 10 but when I put my probe in the tank (not sump or should I put it in the sump?). It reads 7.66.
I use quick dip test kit, it says 8.4.
I then use the ph high range (7.4-8.6) test byNutrafin, it reads 8.6.
Can anyone tell me what I should do?
this is a 75g fish with live rock and some corals (7/5/06)
temp-77
Mg-1320
CA-214
KH-15
NO3-0
NO2-0

Test the water again 7/6/06
pH 7.66
temp 77.
temp-77
Mg-1300
CA-212
KH-15
NO3-0
NO2-0
I test in the sump, tank, and in a cup. Not much of difference.

Thank you
David

Another theory I am thinking is it might be the probe? according to the saler it was only 3 months old. ( maybe this is why he sold it) is there anyway to check out the probe. or could it be the controller?

Call American Marine and see what they can do for you. I bought a used PinPoint pH monitor from the sales forum and then bought a new probe from Premium Aquatics but it just wouldn't calibrate. I called them and they said to ship it in and they'll take a look. They ended up replacing some circuit item that was fried even though it was not under warranty. I only had to pay for Priority Mail shipping to them. Great service IMO. HTH.
