calibrating refractometers at meeting?

I can bring the bottle of calibration fluid I have here. It is only like 2 ounces so I don't mind a few drops for each refractometer but (sorry Dave) I can't fill anyone's swing type hydrometers.

BUT for you guys I will mix up some water and have the salinity at exactly 30ppt according to my calibrated refractometer and you can use a few ounces for each swing-arm hydrometer just to see if you are reading the same. I don't see why this would be any less effective than using the solution.

Hope there are some people that want to do this. I know mine was reading higher than it should've by .002 so when I thought I had 1.026 it was only 1.024 but I guess that's better than reading 1.026 when it was 1.028

See you all at the meeting. Don't forget your little screwdrivers or allen wrenches for adjusting calibration.

I'll toss mine in my back pocket as well and bring it in. I'd be interested to see what mine is reading after a years use.

Folks,
I would be interested to hear what the consesus was. Did most of the refacs measure low? I am beginning to suspect that mine does.
