Calling all Mac Users

Got my dream camera and a nice mirco len. Now I need some info/help on a good photo editor software for my Mac Pro.

Any suggestion? I am new to Apple, please be gentle :D

All of the same stuff that you'd use on Windows. ;)

Start with Photoshop Lightroom. You can do 90% of everything you'll ever need right there. Adding to that I'd suggest Photoshop CS3, Photoshop Elements or Pixelmator.

Failing all of that, you can do very nicely with iPhoto that came free on your Mac.

Since you have a Mac don't forget to take a look at the new Aperture 2. The new plug-in capability increases the power of the software to do such things as correct blown highlights or integrate third party plugins like Noise Ninja.

Cool. :smokin:

I have the "iLife" & "Photo Booth" but are not to happy with it. But the Aperture 2 sounds pretty good.

Thanks, maybe I can post some decent looking pics here soon :D

Aperture is nice because you can import your existing iphoto structure directly into your catalog. The down side is that the RAW conversion isn't as good as some other options. I really like Aperture, and own it, but just can't justify using it because of quality issues. I prefer the output that I get from Lightroom.

I recommend downloading trial versions of both and see which one does a better job for you. You probably will need, at some point, a full editing package as well.

Cheers

That is a great idea, I will do that soon as I get home. Thanks for the suggestion ;)
