My wife approved of my next tank mwhahaha........

It is going to be a peninsula tank dividing my living room and dining room.

Of course it will be a little while as I want to plan this very well and do things a little better than my previous tank ( learn from your mistakes right )

I would like to see some pics of some good peninsula tanks to nab at some ideas on the styling, plumbing, hood/top and even below the tank.

SO LETS SEE THOSE TANKS!!!!

both tanks are conected (actualy 3 tanks now) and the sump is in the basement.

My first setup was a peninsula but the system was too small to do it right. You need a wide tank in order to get your aquascaping done right.

Nice tanks > I haven't decided if I am going to do Like Tangers tank with a stand or like mbbuna's where it is more like a built in.

mbbuna, do you have any humidity issues with the top side?

I don't have a basement :( so my sump will all have to fit below.

humidity upstairs isn't a problem, when it get worm and humid we put the AC on and that takes care of it but the basement is a different story. we run a dehumidifier 24/7 down there

Sorry I should have been more specific > The area above the tank being all encased, does that part stay moist?

i haven't noticed any moisture. i was worried about that because the wall that the tank replaced is a bearing wall and the span is about 16' so i had to use two LVL (laminated vernier lumber)beams. i was worried that if there was any moisture the beams would delaminate but its been 4+ years and they are holding up fine.

i have a freestanding peninsula tank seperating the eating area and the tv area 75 gal with sump, etc underneath in the stand(thought i had pics uploaded but i was wrong - will post later)
i LOVE the freestanding part because it keeps the open feel of the room, but here are the things i would have done differently:

made sure that i had enough room to walk by
done a pendant light rather than the canopy and made a different way to keep jumpers safe - the canopy makes it look very top heavy and does not go with the room
IF i did the canopy again, i would have put the hinge on side that goes to the wall - to clean the glass or move stuff on the hinged side, the whole canopy has to come off a PITA

just a couple of things to think about....
