Calling SPS tanks from Asia!!!

I know there are lots of beautiful SPS tanks in Hong kong, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, China, Japan, Korea etc.
Would love to see them on Reefcentral.

i took a peek at your club site and the tank of the month is beautiful! you guys probably have access to more coral and livestock than we do over here.

SPS keepers in Thailand are still a minor group. Can't compare to you guys here.
Most of corals and livestocks are smuggled from Singapore and HongKong. But I think all the high-end stuffs go to Japan, USA and Europe.

My new tank will be on the way in a month now. Do you want pics from the expats in Asia? Here is my old tank from 4 years back. The pics are poor quality. I was playing around with the idea of a refugium/algae display overflowing into the main tank.

Not at all. As long as we keep them in the house not in the public area, it should be safe.

As far as I understand it, keeping certain corals collected outside the country is illegal. Mind you, like many things that are illegal here, the relavant authorities turn a blind eye to it so long as they get their cut. My knowlege of this matter is limited though.

I havent heard of anyone keeping imported corals getting in trouble with the law, just the people bringing them into the country and selling them on.

It is crazy that we dont farm corals and export them from here, but again the law/political self interest stuffs it up.

Not just the imported coral. Even you get in Thailand it is still illegal. If I am not wrong the only legal coral in Thailand are zoo and muchroom.

I have lived in thailand for 3 years, its a cool place but there are some crazy laws and stinking corruption here, they (the corrupt government) dont seem to realise that an unregulated industry is much more dangerous to reefs organisms than a regulated one. crazy
