Calling the Tang Police

It is metaphorical, but often used in the pejorative by people who want to do their own thing irrespective of whether it is a good or not so good thing to do. It often sets off emotional discussions by both sides of the issue.

lol...I've definitely seen some emotional discussions on the topic. I would only add that whether you are for or against, it is all a matter of opinion.

I am not aware of any controlled studies on the positive or negative effects of housing a tang in any particular size of tank (would be interested to see it if there have been some). So, to say it is "good" or "bad" is subjective and based on personal preference and/or individual observations.

This is the logic used when people keep fish in tanks they know are too small, but do it anyway. (this is my individual observation)

+1 - LOVE the flame angels....some would say it is risky in a reef tank, but I've had several in various tanks over many years, and never had a problem. And, they are one of the prettiest fish available if you ask me.

Just be sure to QT as they tend to carry protozoan infections that you would want to avoid adding to your tank....
