Camera Pricing

Ok, I know I posted in another thread, but now its really confusing to me.

Online Nikon D50 are ranging from 450 to 750 for the camera and basic lens. However, I found one close to home (AKA, I can get it TODAY) for $570, but it is an open box item.... what should I do... I'm so lost.

Where is it coming from?

I recently bought online and realized there are a lot of scammers out there in the internet camera world.

If there is a full warrantee on the open-box, then it could be worth it. Double-check for all the accessories before you buy it though.

Don't touch it if there is no Nikon warrantee. Lots of "Gray market" cameras around that have NO Nikon warrantee on them as they were imported without authorization.

Simple repairs to a Digital camera can run $300+ easily. I just had my D70 give out before Christmas (bad metering, a known issue with the early D70). The local shop had a professional camera repairman quote $330 or so to replace a PCB and re-calibrate it and swore it would not be covered by Nikon.

I requested that they ship it to Nikon anyway, and it was factory repaired/cleaned for no charge.

I appreciate the factory warrantee a little more now than I did.

I kept searching online and found out how it was so cheap. Some of the cheaper prices where the camera only... LITTERALLY!! No manual, no strap, no battery, no batter charger, and also NO WARRENTY!!! it was really the camera only because I found for about the same price on the same site a "KIT" that came with all that stuff. So I'm glad I got it!! :D

It also come with the 15-55 lens, but now I'm wondering what other lenses I should get. I want to get a macro lens, but I am going on a trip in June (honeymoon actually) so I would REALLY like a some long range lens's

I'm liking my 18-200 Tamron lens- I hate carrying extra glass with me, so that is the one lens I take with me everywhere.
