Anyone know of any campgrounds closest to bathrub reef? Preferably something a bit less crowded than the typical RV campground...

TIA

Hey I don't know if that information helped him but it sure did help me. I have been trying to find a park with cabins near the beach for weeks... Thanks for the info.

lol, yeah, ive known about that place but they say theyre a 45 minute drive from Bathtub reef. I think we're still staying there though...

thanks anyways fellas!

Bath tub reef is pretty good but if you go another half hour south you can camp on peanut island which is waaaaaaaayyyyyyy better. The water is much clearer. Many more fish. And no waves since your inside the inlet. The campgrounds there are awesome too. Look up peanut island in west palm beach and you wont be disappointed. Its the best thing besides the keys for snorkleing and camping and partying if you go to the north sandbar.

Stuart beaches are usually very clear and as long as you go in summer it will more then likley have no waves at all. the reef out side of the beach will also break up the waves making it a really nice shelterd beach

I have been to bathtub reef and it was good. The only thing I didnt like is that the reef isnt really a reef its built by worms. Its almost like a porous material that you can break with your hands. There are no corals and no crabs. Peanut island and ocean reef park in west palm have large rocks that make up the reefs. They have many more fish and the water is clearer. You are GUARANTEED great snorkeling conditions at peanut island at high tide because it is inside the protected inlet. I have been to bathtub reef and not been able to snorkel because of the waves and the water being stirred up. This was in the summer time too. At peanut island this will never happen. I also saw french angels, barracudas, pompano, sheep head, coral banded shrimp etc etc at peanut and didnt see any of them at bathtub reef.
