can 2 Lawnmower Blennies in same tank?

I have one lawnmower/algea blenny in my tank for a while now but thinking of adding another one because my friend doesn't want his blenny anymore so I want to rescue it. Does anyone has 2 blennies in the same tank? I know they can be very aggressive with its own kind unless they are a mated pair. ....any thoughts? Thanks.

I wouldn't dare.... I tried to do that long time ago in a 55, they were similarly sized as well... almost killed each other...

unless ( just guessing here ) they were both new to the tank or added the same time ???????

I have never seen two algae blennies together, but different species can get along. I wouldn't take a chance adding a second one after your first one has established his territory (i.e. the whole tank)

I had a pair of starry blennys (Salarias ramosus - behaves like a lawnmower) for over a year - the interaction was very cool - one was twice the size of the other, and I did not add them at the same time. For your fish, I would float him in the tank for a day and let your current one get used to him, and see how he reacts. If he is relentless, don't try it, otherwise give it a go, just be ready with the net. As for the pair I had, I came home one day and found both on the floor, very romeo and julliet, huh?

I've even tried a red lip blenny with my previous LMB, He tired killing that as well...

My Large LMB has had bouts as well with my 5" pinkspot goby ( fought for 3 weeks straight till they both hashed things out )

also had bouts with my pair of Dragon gobies ( more with the large male... had bouts for about 2-3 weeks ) more of a territory thing I guess.

At best, the whole process it will be very stressful for your existing blenny. Since they are such great fish to have, I'd plan on passing him on to someone that doesn't have one already.
