Can a Gigantea eat a Sailfin Tang?

My tang is missing and I swear I can see what looks like a partial outline of it in the foot of my gigantea. I have had both in my tank for over a year without any issues. The gigantea when fully open is about 8" across and the tang was maybe 3 to 4".

Yes.
+1 mine at a mimic tang

I think most (including myself) thought that S. haddoni were far more likely to eat fish then S. gigantea, but I'm beginning to think that was because there were far more haddoni in the hobby then gigantea. Now that gigantea are much more popular, we may see an increase of posts like this.

i never thought about that but if they're eating tangs i don't see why not. it's a simple animal and i cant see the fishes venom having an effect on it?

I think it did, after two days, my purple throw up many things, my who tank become milkly... mouth left open .

one week after .. die!...

yeah o.k.
was guess, because the venom is a neurotoxin, or nerve poison which paralyzes muscles, inc. the heart, hence the ? mark.
sorry to hear you lost the anemone too.

Well it was confirmed, yes the gigantea did eat my sailfin. He spilt out the bones and other left overs this morning.. :(
