Can a SKIMMER be OVERKILL?

Will work for fish
Hey guys,

I'm currently running a 25g tank w/ a couple of fish only... no corals at this point.

I have a handful of chaeto just inside my Aquaclear70 (no fuge conversion)

I am thinking about adding a skimmer. I see an AquaEuro NANO, a Tunze 9002 (For Nano), and a CSS 220 which appears to be a favorite here on these boards.

The CSS220 is rated for such a huge tank, am curious if too much skimming (along w/ that bit of macro) would even be worth it in my tank?

Please advise :)

I'm currently leaning towards the AE Nano (despite the gripes w/ the pump) due to cost.

Thanks in advance

It might not let the algae grow, but a skimmer can only do so much, that is why some people think they're skimmer is no good( it has done its job), if you put softies in your tank it may be too much, they need some of the stuff.

Taking too much water out of the system could be another concern. To solve that, just adjust it to run drier.

You will never be able to recreate a nutrient poor environment like the ocean but with excellent animal husbandry you can come close. That said if you do your research you will never regret buying the best but you may regret buying something less

So its bad to have a skimmer if you have softies in your tank?
