So I have a Gold head sleeper goby who is just wasting away...all others in tank eat heartily. He sifts sand CONSTANTLY and spreads it EVERYWHERE(quite an annoying and messy fish truth be told)but never participates in feedings. Any input? He's thinner every day.

Unfortunately that isn't uncommon. They eat the fauna in the sand. They can deplete the fauna in the sand pretty fast and if they won't eat prepared food they will starve.

Damn. I'm a big fan of Nassarius snails for "zombie emergence" event...Sonia have a bunch. I probably should've researched that better. Any suggestions on catching him? I have a really "animal focused" LFS that would probably take him...this hobby does not lend itself well to unresearched impulse buys...:(

you could try a simple fish trap. unfortunately, sleeper gobies just arent meant for tanks without a heavily popuated and large sandbed. i had one in my nano, and i took all the rock out then scooped him up with a net. not my best memory.

I somewhat doubt that lack of food is the issue with these guys. They eat whatever they find on the ground so feeding them shouldn't be a problem. I've had them eating like pigs and still wasting away in the back while having full bellies.

It's either internal parasites or some other damage to internal organs.

If I would ever try them again I would make sure to deworm them good and proper not only with Praziquantel but also with Levamisole and Metronidazol.
