Hello, the LFS told me these were snowflake clowns, I thought they were supposed to be pretty uncommon. I was looking for a pair of clowns and he had these, so I picked them up. Can anyone verify if they are actually snowflake clowns by just a picture? Thanks you!

They are snowflakes. Not very uncommon. I see it in my lfs all the time. It depends on where you are I guess.

yea i would prefer those over the real white snowcassos anyday, those are one of a kind. any expert chime in on whether those are an actual snowcasso? and yea jw how much did you pay for the pair?

lol... well.. I thought it was cheap, and when I searched around on the internet, everything I found they were listed like $89-$119 each.. I paid less than that for the pair. But hearing that they are pretty common, makes me wonder about the pricing. either way.. I think they are beautiful fish and really enjoy them. As soon as I got done drop acclimating them, and got them in the tank, they were accepting food.

If you paid less then 90 for the pair you got a pretty good deal. They are more common as say 3-4 years ago but they still fetch a decent price. Enjoy them

yeah, I paid just under $90 for the pair... now, another silly question. Should I be worried about a Spider Decorator Crab trying to eat them? They are about 1.5 inches long.. I have read that they can be a danger to small fish, but I wasn't sure, If all else, i can sell the crab or put him in my refugium. Has anyone ever had an issue were a decorator killed a healthy fish?

Thx again for all the input. I'm new to the saltwater hobby, and trying to learn as much as I can without killing anything.. so far so good.

I'm no expert, but his clownfish are A. Oscellaris aka. snowflake clowns. Snowcassos on the other hand are A. Perculas and to answer your question no these are not snowcassos. Lastly I have to disagree with you, snowcassos are much nicer/rarer than snowflakes IMO. Is it just me or does the top snowflake clown in the picture appear to have a rather high top fin?
Saltwaternewb, very cool pair:thumbsup:

I think it's an optical allusion. The white marking that starts at the front of the dorsal fin, continues down past the top of the fish, making it look like the fish has a really high dorsal.
