Can Bayer cause sps to brown at base?

About a month ago I noticed a few red bugs on a couple of sps. I was able to get them out of the tank and do a Bayer dip. My turquoise stag turned brown around the base almost immediately following the dip.

It has been almost a month now and it's still brownish around the base. The browning is not progressing at all and I haven't seen any red bugs since. As the title states, would it make sense for the Bayer to cause this?

Alk 9
Salinity 1.025
Nitrate undetectable
Plenty of light and flow
All other sps seem fine.

It is encrusted over the frag plug that it was on but not on a rock. I've had it for over a year and it has always had nice color. It's a pretty slow grower for me though.

Any other ideas as to what would cause this one sps to lose color at it's base. I guess I would categorize it more as darkening than turning brown.
