Hi I have a 180, the pers host on the left side in a frogspawn. I have 4 RBTA in the right side of the tank. My buddy has a black Ocellaris pair he is getting rid of. Will the clowns be ok together?

Thanks

Most likely they will fight when they mature, would not advise it.
Your percs will probably find a home in your RBTA.

The percs have hosted the large frogspawn for 2 years now...

That sucks i really wanted the ocellaris pair for the opposite side of the tank. Any other opinions? remember that it is a 6' tank and they would be in opposite sides

how are you gonna stop them from going to the other side of the tank? lol

IMO it really isn't a good idea putting more than one pair in a tank

I have a pair of mated orange ocellaris and introduced 2 very young black and white juvs into a 80g. From day 1, the established pair chased the 2 juvs around the tank. There was no nipping just harassment. After a few weeks larger of the 2 juvs died (not from malnutrition but I think from constant harassment). After death of the larger juv they've left the other one alone and all 3 seem to be getting along now. My senses are that the estblished female was trying to prevent one of the juvs from becoming a female. Based this experience, one of the females will likely not make it...

I agree with Dave. The Black and Whites mature faster than perculas. They are non to be pretty aggressive. When they reach adulthood they will most likely abuse, and or kill the perculas.

I have a 150g that we just re-aquascaped bonsai style so there were no longer any established territories for any of the tank's inhabitants. I already had a pair of b/w occelaris, one of which is a cool misbar. Hubby and I took advantage of the tank being empty and added a pair of o/w occelaris as well, one of which was a semi-snowflake. We figured that as with tangs, if you add them at the same time, no problems. Well, no such luck. The b/w pair suddenly beat up the little snowflake after being fine in the tank for a couple of weeks. Poor thing didn't stand a chance and there was no way we could get him out, either. Had to let nature take its course. I wanted to replace him right away, after reading in Joyce Wilkerson's clownfish book that you can keep several occelaris in a tank together but only one pair will form, others will remains juveniles. Hubby said no more clowns! So I posted here, hoping someone would back me up but they said not to do it, that it wouldn't work. And they're right. The larger b/w has paired up with the female o/w and they've started picking on the little misbar b/w. We can't get him out so we're hoping that he'll have the good sense to stay on the opposite side of the tank. I totally understand how tempting it is to put more clowns in but in the end, not fair to the clowns themselves. *shrug*
