no, it happens every time i touch it or do anything near it. tonight i simply waved my hand over it to get some debris off the center of it. then these worm things come out. they are already back inside.
If so those are feeder tentacles and it's feeding when those are out. Allot of times our corals are trained by us to "feed" when we mess with the tank because allot of time when we do we are feeding the tank. So they are thinking, it's dinner time.
no, i'm talking about the one with the white stuff oozing out of it. the orange sub enchinata - not the lord on the far left of the pic. basically, dead center of the picture.
those are messenteri(e) filaments, they act as a defense mechanism, some animals ie. echinoderms uses them for digestion. I have also noticed them with corals when they are stressed. Hope that helps
