Can I keep more than 2 Blood Red Fire Shrimp in one tank?

I have a pair of Blood Red Fire Shrimp in my 180. They were large when I bought them over 4 years ago, so I imagine they are getting pretty old.

Can I put a few more in the tank? I do not know if the pair will tolerate newcomers or if they can live in groups at all.

I would make a semi-educated guess and say that a 180 gallon tank should be enough room for a group of fire cleaner shrimp.

At the same time, though, if you have had success with your pair for four years now, I think I would just wait until they pass on. Not so much because of aggression, but because the new shrimp could give the resident shrimp some sort of parasite or something. Its up to you, but after four years of faithful service, to me it would be nice if they could die from old age. (I guess I am a shrimp softie.)

I've never had problems with parasites on shrimp of any kind, and I've had a dozen species of them in my tanks. My question is whether they get along with their own kind like Peppermint shrimp, or if they are aggressive like Stenopus?

According to Dr. Shimek, Lysmata grabhami, the Caribbean cleaner shrimp, does better in pairs or small groups. Nothing specific is mentioned for L. debelius.

I have read several posts in the past reporting that a pair of Lysmata grabhami will not tolerate others of their species. Perhaps they can live in groups if introduced at the same time, but each species is different.

Does anyone have personal experience with keeping more than a pair of Blood Red Fire Shrimp in one tank?

good job keeping fire shrimp for four years i tried twice and never had any luck i would not push it and just be happy with the ones you have
