i was wondering if my fish would be fine without a moonlight on at night. Just the night dark and then obv lights during the day. Its hard for me to sleep with the moonlight lighting up my room hahah:sleep:

in my nano i never had moon lights and in my moms 55 we dont run moon lights and the fish do perfectly fine :-)

we even have a breeding pair of clowns. so im thinking if the clowns are breeding then no lights are ok

Moonlights are usually for show but on larger systems they have said to help with spawning events. Otherwise I see no need.

I always run an ambient room light- no aquarium moonlights (yet!)

Doing this helps my fish from blundering into the anemone and helps ME from tripping over one of the kids toys when I go for a sleepwalk :)

they only have one moon light in the wild, and thats not on all the time.they will be fine, they might even like the total darkness.

Ive had tanks in the past and everything was fine without moonlights.

Most people probably use 2 parts of the light cycle ,daylight & dawn/dusk.some use 3 parts whitch add moonlights and a few use the full 4 cycles whitch can likely only be done with a controller.Follows the full lunar cycle to mimic new & full moons varying the intensity in between to resemble starlight.Theres some good reads on what influences this has on fish....but agree not necessary.
