Can I move a carpet anemone?

Ive had a light green carpet for about a month now. It's been doing great except for one thing, its in the back of my tank behind my rocks. I'm wondering if I can move him out to the front and if so what the best way to do it is without damaging his foot?

Well, I couldnt wait for an answer. Im a little impatient. He is way to beautiful to be hidden. I took a scraper and slid him out front, fed him so mussel and he seems to be just fine.

I would not of done that. Being impatient is probably the last characterisitic you want to have in this hobby. There should never be a rush.

The reason I say I would not of done that is if your scraper had punctured its food...well use your imagination.

Normally I wouldnt have rushed it, but I figured I would give it a try. He actuall just slid across with bottom without much pressure being applied. He is actuall doing much better out in the front. If it would have been harder I would have just let him be.

the way i move mine- put a glove on(surgical) or a large ziplock bag over my hand and arm. slowly and gently slid my fingers underneath his foot (may take 5-15 min to fully get him to release his hold) depending on what its attached to.

Have never had problems moving them except the stinging senstaion when i get popped. Learned to live with it after the first tank move.

I have never been stung by a carpet anemone. I wonder what it feels like? Maybe when my Bluecarpet gets bigger I will give it a try. :D.

If the carpet doesn't like the new location it will move again... These animal are hard to figure out, sometimes after staying attached for weeks/months it will just pick up and move again...

My Bluecarpet loves the spot hes in and he has only been there about 6 days now. But his foot is burried 4 inches down on the bottom of the glass and is looking really good. Seems like a pretty anemone to keep.

stings feels like i mild burning sensation. i get mostly popped on arm / wrist area just past my hand protection. I have gotton mild redness after the sting and has always subsided within couple of hours. Nothing major really.
