Is PS a protein skimmer?
not sure if Sea clone is still being sold but I've had one of those and felt that there were better options out there. Was a night a day difference when I replaced it with an octopus. aqua c was another skimmer that I didn't like.

I am not sure what a G1 can handle but i know that series of skimmers are still very much thought of as being very capable..I have not owned one myself . I do think some of the newer cone skimmer are very easily adjustable and have much lower power consumption Needle wheel pumps. Not applying anything toward your LFS. BUT Some will tell you what ever they have in stock trying to move is the thing you need and not always have your best interest in mind..I KNOW a LFS still has them on there shelf.Way OVER PRICED ..
BRS has a great line of skimmers you can compare features and watch some of there videos explaining differences to make a better educated decision on your purchase..
I Went from a external venturi skimmer with a huge power hungry pump to a much smaller foot print Skimz cone needle wheel skimmer. this smaller skimmer way out performs the much bigger foot print with less hassle. no venturi to clean ..

IMO, ASM skimmers are pretty good for the price. However, the older models used Sedra pumps which are not well made.I don't know if they still use those pumps. Anyway, the ASM G1x is way under rated for your setup. I'd go with a G2 or bigger if you want to stick to ASM brand. If you look around, you can get a used one dirt cheap and upgrade to a better skimmer pump. Most of the skimmers today are pretty good. I would avoid seaclone (Instant Ocean) and any skimmer that use spray injection (e.g., AquaC).

thanks for the replies. my LFS rep did say it was underrated but he felt the manufacturer also did. said he has a few guys with larger tanks than me, up to 200g that use them.

I would look at the Skimz line of skimmers. I had an ASM g3 that did work very well on my 120. Ive also owned Aqua Medic and Bubble Magus skimmers and nothing has been as good as my Skimz Monster.

I have had great success with Aquamaxx and I am currently using a Simplicity skimmer and love it very much!

Another skimmer I would not recommend is the coralife skimmers. Just so many better options.

I have a nyos quantum really like it. It supper quite and skins very well I went with the 220. But you could go For 120 model

Reef octopus are good skimmers. They are on the pricier side but seem to hold up well and do their job. My understanding is you also want yo make sure you get the right size for your tank, that is a key component in the selection, not too big and definitely not too small. Good luck!
